Growing Up...
Born in Mosgiel New Zealand, I grew up initially in Otago but then shifted to Te Anau at the age of 6yrs. From here I moved to Tuatapere (in Southland) and lived there until I left home at 16yrs to go to Dunedin Teachers College. I trained as a primary teacher and also worked towards a Bachelor of Education. After completing training college I moved to Invercargill (with my then husband) and started my teaching career. I have enjoyed teaching in a full time and part time capacity over the last 13 years in a number of schools in Invercargill. Starting in the junior classes, I worked my way up to intermediate aged students and have been teaching at this level for the last eight years.
My Family...
Over the last five years I have been working in a part time capacity (job sharing) as I felt it was important to spend time with my son Cameron. Cameron is an awesome kid (five in January 2005) and I have learnt so much about God's Father heart toward us as I have experienced parenthood.
Last year I remarried in November. Stewart is an awesome man - a gift from God! We have settled well into married life together. In living this life I have come to learn that things do not always go the way we planned or expected them to, but even when our world seems crazy and void of hope, God is there with outstretched arms. My brother Tony (who drummed for some of the tracks on this album) also lives with us at the present time. Not to forget 'Sox' the cat.
Invercargill Christian Centre is an awesome church. I count the people within this church as a part of my extended family. When I have needed advice, council or prayer I have always been supported by my church family. I would like to say a big 'thank you' to my pastors Ian and Dayle Wright and the many other church members (you know who you are) who have encouraged and supported me (especially when it was just me and my son). You have been my supporters and helped me to make the dreams and visions reality with the release of this album.
Within my church I am a member of our worship team. My role within the team has varied over the years - from vocal director to music director to one of the team leaders. They are a great bunch of people! I play keyboard and worship lead most often, though I would love to be able to have more time to play my saxaphone (if I did this I'd actually improve my skill level). I enjoy working with the vocalists and just love worshipping with the guys!
Hope this gives you a bit more of a picture of who Mandy Saunders is.
